Mr Wu examined the link between competitive advantage and stakeholder management. His research addressed three issues: first, how stakeholder management influences the source of competitive advantage; second, how stakeholder management helps a firm to sustain its competitive advantage; and third, how managers perform their roles in developing and maintaining competitive advantage by balancing different stakeholder demands. Mr Wu’s results showed that a firm’s competitive advantage comes from its resource capacity and a mix of activities that respond to the competitive context. Stakeholder management has positive impacts on generating and sustaining competitive advantage. Mr Wu’s findings suggest that stakeholder management should be an integral part of a firm’s business strategy, and should play a more important role in the strategy process of firms.
