My PhD project is focusing on the molecular aspects of Horizontal Gene Transfer and resistance mechanisms induced by heavy metals in bacterial isolates. We also are considering the antibiotic resistance properties developed in bacterial isolates due to heavy metals resistance.

My PhD project will use untargeted metabolomics on blood samples to study metabolic pathways of postmenopausal osteoporosis in Singaporean Chinese women and in an osteoporotic sheep model. The aim is to identify novel biomarkers that could be used as early prognostic indicators of bone loss.

My PhD is looking at interactions between breast cancer cells and neutrophils. Specifically we hope to determine if cross talk between the two cell types might alter neutrophil lifespan along with the phenotype of both the cancer cells and neutrophils.
