Postgraduate Diploma in Industrial/Organisational Psychology

  1. Students applying for this qualification may download the application forms provided online.
  2. Complete two copies of the Request for Confidential Referee Report (if applicable) and send one to each of your referees.

In addition to the application for this selected entry diploma, students must also have ensured they apply for admission and have accepted an Offer of Place prior to applying for courses.
You will need to apply for full-time study, starting in Semester 1.

Supporting documentation

  • List your graduate coursework on the form. This should include six to eight courses in I/O psychology or equivalent.
  • Your thesis should be on a topic in I/O. Please give the title and attach a copy of the abstract.
  • A copy of your current CV.
  • A brief personal statement (500 words or less), which includes your reasons for this course of study. Candidates may also wish to list perceived strengths as well as skills you will bring to your studies and training.
  • A current job description on letterhead signed by an executive level or human resources manager.
  • A letter stating that you are currently employed in a position in which the practice of I/O psychology is a significant component, signed by your line manager or human resources manager:
    • Confirming that the role engages in significant Industrial/Organisational issues, and
    • The position can be made available for a minimum of 1,500 hours in the following calendar year

Other entry considerations

Students applying must:

  • Meet the requirements set down by the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 that the person is of good character and reputation and is a fit and proper person to be registered.  This is why two references are required.
  • Be willing to have professional supervision provided by a Field Supervisor who is:
    • A registered Psychologist who is practicing in the field of Industrial / Organisational psychology, and
    • Approved by Massey University’s team of PGDipI/O Psych staff.

In addition to their academic qualifications, candidates should:

  1. Be able and willing to sustain high workloads,
  2. Demonstrate strong performance at undergraduate / postgraduate levels in applied subjects relevant to Industrial / Organisational Psychology,
  3. Be able to demonstrate that they have pursued knowledge and understanding of bicultural considerations, including their commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi, as well as consideration of the cultural diversity in Aotearoa New Zealand in preparation for professional training.
