Dr Jones is Head of the School of Nursing within our College of Health.
Previously Mark was Director of the Global Health Alliance, Western Australian Department of Health and Professor in the School of Nursing at Curtin University; leading a programme aimed at improving maternal and child health in East Africa.
Mark has a background in UK based professional nursing organisations and has a particular interest in primary health care and advanced practice roles. Mark was Chief Nurse for New Zealand from 2005-2010.
Mark is a Fellow of the College of Nurses Aotearoa and the Australian College of Nursing.
My key area of interest concerns people having control of their health care outcomes; how we process information to make health related choices, and how external factors might militate against our optimum health.
Additionally I am concerned with leadership models associated with prevailing health care policy and organisational systems; care, compassion, and spirituality as significant contributors to positive health care outcomes, and the best possible use of nursing skills and talents to maximise those outcomes.
