CRV AmBreed is a dairy improvement company making a significant contribution to the genetic makeup of the New Zealand national herd and to the genetic makeup of pasture-based herds internationally.CRV AmBreed is a fully-owned subsidiary of CRV – a multinational dairy improvement company cooperatively owned by Dutch and Belgian farmers.

The CRV AmBreed Scholarship has been established to support and encourage students with interests in animal husbandry, animal genetics, farm management and environmental sustainability and makes available an opportunity for students to observe dairy production systems in Europe.

Value and tenure
The value of the Scholarship will be $3,000
The scholarship is tenable for one year.

In addition to the cash payment which is made in the year of the award, each Scholar will have the opportunity to travel to CRV headquarters in Arnhem, Holland, after they have completed the third year of the degree. The scholarship will cover the cost of return travel and accommodation in Europe for two weeks.

Typically one scholarship will be awarded per year

Applicants must be:
•full-time students
•in their third year of an undergraduate degree in agriculture or animal science at Massey University.

Priority will be given to New Zealand citizens but international students who demonstrate a desire to pursue agriculture or animal science as a career will also be considered.

Selection criteria
The selection will be based on:
•academic merit
•an interview.

Selection panel
The scholarship is awarded by the University Scholarships Committee on the recommendation of a representative of CRV AmBreed and the Head of the Animal Science Group (or nominee).

Conditions of the scholarship
The committee will invite short-listed candidates for an interview

The travel component of the scholarship is dependent on the student attaining at least a B average in the second and third year subjects of the degree.

The Scholarship may be held in conjunction with other awards. The Selection Panel has the right to refrain from making an award in the event of there being no suitable applicants and their decision is final.
