Graduate Women New Zealand believe in empowering women through education, advocacy and community. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide recognition and financial assistance to outstanding women who undertake postgraduate research.

Who we're looking for

We are looking for a female students who are undertaking postgraduate research at the Albany campus, Massey University.

What you'll be studying

Your research topic should contribute to the discipline, and to New Zealand as a whole.

Eligibility criteria

You must be:

  • a New Zealand citizen
  • female
  • enrolled internally at the Albany campus

Successful recipients are required to submit a written report to the Graduate Women North Shore Charitable Trust within 12 months of receiving the scholarship.

Application checklist

Include the following with your application:

  • a copy of your academic transcripts for any tertiary study completed outside of Massey University (if applicable)
  • a statement (800 words max) outlining your research and the contribution to the discipline and to New Zealand as a whole. Also tell us the purpose for which the award is required and how it would be utilised if granted (personal support, travel costs, resource requirements, etc.)
  • two academic references. You will need to nominate two persons to act as academic referees. They should be people with first-hand knowledge of your academic work. At least one academic referee should be a supervisor or other academic staff member in the Department/Institute/School in which you are completing your degree.
  • two academic referee reports, using the below template, to be sent directly to scholarships@massey.ac.nz by your referee.

Selection considerations

When choosing our recipients we will consider your academic merit and achievements, research topic, and references. Your financial situation and intention for the award will also be taken into consideration.

Academic referees must complete the Graduate Women North Shore Charitable Trust Scholarship Confidential Referee Report. You then need to send this to your referees who must complete and return this to us by the scholarship closing date. Please note it is your responsibility to ensure your referees complete and return the Confidential Referee Report to us.
