This exchange is limited to undergraduate Massey Business School students.
The University of Chile (FEN) was founded on the 19th of November, 1842. It is the oldest higher education institution in Chile. Generating, developing, integrating and communicating knowledge in all the areas of knowledge and culture are the mission and basis of the activities of the university.
Exchange Student Travel Grant
New Zealand citizens and permanent residents who apply to go on exchange to Universidad de Chile are automatically considered for a Massey University Exchange Student Travel Grant. No additional paperwork needs to be submitted.
Visas
Students will need to apply for a student visa to study at FEN.
Accommodation
Choosing a safe and enjoyable place to live while abroad is a very important part of a student’s international experience. For this reason, the International Office provides students with a Housing Guide that lists the different accommodation options in Santiago.
FEN does not provide halls of residence or dorms for its students and meal plans are not available.
Academic calendar
The academic year at FEN is similar to Massey’s schedule. Semesters run from the beginning of March to the beginning of July and the end of July to the end of November.
Living expenses
The currency in Chile is the Chilean Peso (CLP). A Cost of Living guide is available to help you plan your finances during your time at FEN.
Courses
Five courses worth 6 FEN credits each, for a total of 30 FEN credits, is the standard semester load.
Over 300 courses taught in Spanish and 15 to 20 courses taught in English are offered every semester. All courses are open to international exchange students, but registration will depend on availability and class size.
