Dr Jasmine Fang
FPSB governs the professional and ethical standards for more than 230,000 Certified Financial PlannerCM (CFP) professionals across 28 territories, making Dr Fang’s appointment a significant opportunity for Aotearoa New Zealand to contribute to shaping the future of the global profession. The appointment also strengthens Massey’s influence on international education and ethics frameworks that underpin financial advice worldwide.
Representing New Zealand on the seven-member committee, Dr Fang and her colleagues advise the FPSB Board of Directors on maintaining and evolving competency and ethical standards for the CFP certification. The Committee’s recommendations help guide affiliate organisations around the world in ensuring consistent, high-quality standards for financial planners.
Dr Fang describes the appointment as a testament to the collective effort that has gone into building a strong professional and academic foundation for financial planning in Aotearoa.
“It’s both humbling and affirming to be trusted with a global stewardship role in a profession I’ve dedicated much of my academic and professional life to developing. The appointment recognises not only my individual commitment but also the collective effort of colleagues and industry partners who have worked alongside me to elevate financial planning education in New Zealand.”
Since 2018, Dr Fang has led Massey’s financial planning programmes, including the development of the country’s only Certified Financial PlannerCM recognised degree and clear qualification pathways connecting tertiary study with professional certification.
”My role on the Committee will help ensure New Zealand’s educational and regulatory perspectives are represented internationally, reinforcing Massey’s position as the national hub for financial planning education and research.”
