After completing her Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition at Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa Massey University, Livi went on to earn her Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics.
From lab to Liv-On Nourish
Livi’s career took shape through Liv-On Nourish, the dietetics practice she co-founded with her husband Jon through a shared belief that wellbeing is about movement, mindset and nourishment.
“Liv-On Nourish began as a way to bring together my love of food, sports performance and practical nutrition. The name actually combines my husband’s and my names, Liv and Jon. It originally started as Liv-On Lifestyle, our gym and wellness space.”
At first, it was simply a place to teach people how to move and fuel their bodies better. But over time, it evolved into a full nutrition service, supporting clients from all walks of life, from competitive athletes to everyday gym-goers.
“My approach is grounded in science but centred on people. I believe nutrition should enhance performance without creating unnecessary stress or restriction.”
Her husband still plays a role in the business – most notably, as her “official taste tester” for new recipes. It’s these small details, she says, that make her work both personal and joyful.
Through Liv-On Nourish and her growing online presence, Livi is committed to simplifying nutrition in a world flooded with mixed messages.
“There’s an overload of information, some helpful, but a lot misleading, which can make nutrition confusing and overwhelming. The key is balance, using food strategically to fuel performance, recovery and overall wellbeing, rather than relying on trends or rigid rules.”
As both a runner and CrossFit athlete, Livi lives the same discipline and balance she teaches her clients. That lived experience allows her to connect authentically with those she supports – understanding the highs, the setbacks and the reality of balancing performance with everyday life.
“I’ve learned firsthand the value of proper fuelling, hydration and recovery to keep things in check. I love pushing my body and seeing what it’s capable of, but I’ve also hit the wall and dealt with runner’s gut, experiences that help me genuinely relate to others.”
From graduate to leader
Since graduating from Massey, Livi has built a thriving career that continues to grow with her. She’s presented at local gyms, workplaces and international events and mentors others in the field of performance nutrition.
Last week, Livi featured as a speaker at the Sport and Exercise Science New Zealand (SESNZ) Conference 2025, hosted at Massey University’s Auckland campus. Her presentation, The Modern Athlete: Shifts in Eating Behaviour and Performance Culture, explored how social media, culture and community are reshaping how people think about fuelling and performance.
“I emphasise that anyone can be an athlete, from elite competitors to weekend warriors. Sports nutrition isn’t just for professionals. Don’t wait until you feel ready. Just start. Embrace every learning opportunity. And most importantly, take time to reflect on your journey and give yourself credit for how far you’ve come.”
As she continues to inspire others, Livi is proof that with curiosity, courage and balance, you really can Liv-On.
