Established under Te Ture mō Te Reo Māori (Māori Language Act) 2016, Te Mātāwai leads Māori language revitalisation, empowering iwi Māori to restore te reo as a nurturing first language in homes and communities.

Dr Warren is a senior lecturer specialising in Māori and Indigenous education. Her teaching spans Māori-medium and English-medium contexts, including courses on Te Aho Tātairangi and the politics of Māori education.

Dr Warren says working at Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa Massey University allows her to build on her foundation in development studies while contributing to important areas of Māori development.

“I engage with several topics, including the politics of Māori development, Māori education, language revitalisation, iwi development and research. Teaching subjects that positively impact Māori development and help transform communities is incredibly rewarding. Working at Massey allows me to merge academia with my experience. Being part of the positive transformation for our nation is a fulfilling path, and I’m committed to the work I do.”
