A total of 49 students completed their qualifications, with 24 graduates attending the ceremony in person. Among those graduating at the ceremony were 13 students with a Bachelor of Business and 11 with a Bachelor of Information Sciences.
Graduates were joined by their families, academics and members of the wider PSB Academy and Massey communities, as they celebrated the culmination of their studies.
The ceremony was attended by College of Sciences Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Ray Geor and Professor Jo Bensemann from Massey Business School, who joined the community in recognising the achievements of the graduating students.
Saw Lwin Htoo, the top student in the Bachelor of Business, delivered the valedictorian speech, representing the graduating class and reflecting on the significance of reaching this milestone.
In his message to the graduating class, Dean of PSB Academy Dr Charles Ong acknowledged the significance of the cohort being the first to graduate under Massey University. He highlighted the students’ commitment to their studies and the shared commitment of PSB Academy and Massey University to equipping graduates with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to navigate a changing world.
Dr Ong also reflected on the rapidly evolving role of technology, particularly artificial intelligence, and encouraged graduates to remain curious and committed to lifelong learning.
“As you embark on your next chapter, I encourage you to embrace change with confidence and stay curious. Continue to learn and keep in mind that the greatest measure of success lies not only in what you achieve for yourself, but in the positive difference you make in the lives of others,” he said.
In a message to the graduating class Massey’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Pierre Venter recognised the significance of the occasion and welcomed them into the Massey alumni whānau.
“You now join a global community of more than 185,000 Massey alumni who are making a difference across communities, industries and countries. Wherever your journey takes you, we hope you carry with you the knowledge, confidence, connections and experiences you have gained during your time with us.”
At the ceremony, Professor Geor provided the keynote address, which was followed by a welcome address by Dr Ong. The event was held at the Venus I Ballroom at Furama RiverFront in Singapore.
