Held in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland’s Q Theatre, the night celebrated the best of New Zealand’s facilities management sector. Both Vicki Carter and Jana Soole, who are studying part-time towards a Diploma in Facilities Management and are recipients of an FMANZ Foundation Scholarship, had the opportunity to take to the stage during the event.

Vicki is currently a Facilities Manager with Cushman & Wakefield New Zealand and was named Emerging Facilities Management Professional of the Year. The award recognises industry newcomers whose passion, dedication and drive inspire others in the profession.

The judges were unanimous in their praise, citing her passion, innovation and professionalism as standout qualities.

“Vicki is a rising force in facilities management who, after transitioning into the sector later in life, is a true role model for emerging professionals.”

Vicki balances her full-time role with her studies at Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa Massey University, supported in part by her FMANZ Foundation Scholarship, which fosters the next generation of industry leaders.

She says it was an honour to receive this recognition, and is enjoying the chance to study while integrating her learning into her professional practice.

“I’ve been particularly enjoying the Asset Management paper which has Dr Eziaku Rasheed as the lecturer. Even from a distance, she has provided valuable guidance, and I learned a lot of useful information that I have been able to apply in my role.”

The evening began with a presentation by Jana who shared her personal facilities management journey. She spoke about how the FMANZ Foundation Scholarship has supported her career as a facilities manager at ASB Bank and her development through her study at Massey.
