To promote excellence in the field of horticultural science
Level of study
This scholarship was established in 2019 by Zespri International Ltd, one of the world’s leading horticultural companies and the recognised category leader in kiwifruit, to assist students of strong academic calibre to study the Bachelor of Horticultural Science degree at Massey University.
Value and tenure
The value of each scholarship is $15,000 tenable over three years.
Payments of $2,500 will be made twice a year, in May and September, conditional on academic achievement.

Applicants must be:
Intending to enrol in the first year of the Bachelor of Horticultural Science degree at Massey University in the year of award.
A New Zealand citizen.
Enrolled full-time, either internal or distance mode. Applicants currently employed in the kiwifruit industry and enrolled part-time will be eligible.
The selection criteria are:
The applicant’s supporting statement. Applicants are expected to demonstrate their current or planned activity to support development of the New Zealand horticultural industry, with a particular emphasis on kiwifruit. They should show evidence of personal passion and commitment to New Zealand kiwifruit or horticulture as a career.
Selection of the scholarship recipients shall be made by the Applied Academic Programmes Scholarships Committee, in consultation with horticultural teaching staff at Massey University and staff from Zespri International Ltd.
Conditions of the scholarship
Agree to Zespri International Ltd publicising their name, photograph and biographical details in company promotional material and the news media.
Maintain a B average each semester to remain eligible for continuation of the scholarship for the full three years.
Remain enrolled full-time within the Bachelor of Horticultural Science at Massey University, with the exception of the recipients who are employed in the kiwifruit industry.
In the event that there are no suitable applications, the selection panel may refrain from awarding the scholarships.
The scholarship may be held in conjunction with other awards.
Application cannot be accepted before 30/09/2020.
