Massey University Auckland Recreation Centre Rules
- Only those who are members of the Massey University Auckland Recreation Centre (“the Centre”) and produce the appropriate membership card will be permitted to gain entry to the Centre and to use its facilities.
- Personal training or the prescription of exercise to our members is not permitted in the Health and Fitness Studio in the Centre by anyone other than our own qualified fitness instructors or personal trainers unless approved in writing by the Manager.
- The Centre will not admit any child under the age of sixteen (16) years, with the exception that children six (6) to fifteen (15) years of age will be allowed to enter the Sports Hall and Cricket Centre only under the supervision of a parent or guardian after the appropriate casual entry fee has been paid.
- No children under the age of sixteen (16) are permitted in the Health and Fitness Studio or the Group Fitness Studio under any circumstances.
- The Centre is a non-smoking and non-vaping area.
- If you lend your membership card to another person to enter the Centre, your membership may be terminated and/or suspended by the Manager.
- Lockers are provided in the changing rooms. Members must supply their own padlock for security. They are not permanent or overnight lockers. Padlocks left on overnight may be cut off and the contents removed to the lost property cupboard.
- People using the Massey University Auckland Recreation Centre must:
- Wear suitable footwear in accordance with the area of usage. For example, non-marking shoes in the Sports Hall and no open toe footwear in the Health and Fitness Studio
- Wear suitable clothing (i.e. no jeans/denim)
- Adhere to these rules and the rules specific to the areas of usage.
- No bicycles or e-scooters are allowed in the Centre.
- Appointments in the Health and Fitness Studio will be forfeited on late arrivals of ten (10) minutes or more.
- While using the Centre you must respect the rights and privacy of others.
- No food to be consumed in the Centre except in designated areas (if any). No alcohol to be consumed in the Centre.
- All equipment in the Centre must be returned to its rightful place after use.
- All equipment in the Centre must be used appropriately.
- All accidents, injuries and/or damaged equipment in the Centre must be reported to a Supervisor.
- Anyone found in the Centre without evidence that they are permitted to be there may be required to leave.
- No-one may use any exercise equipment in the Centre unless they have been properly instructed how to use it.
- Everyone using the Centre must ensure that their activities in the Centre are not hazardous to anyone else in the Centre, and do not create any hazards within the Centre.
- No-one may use the Centre unless they are mentally and physically fit to do so.
- Centre users may be removed from the Centre, effective immediately, and have their membership suspended and/or terminated if they:
- Behave in an offensive manner.
- Pose a real or potential risk to their own health and safety and/or to the health and safety of others in the sole opinion of the Centre.
- Misuse any equipment in the Centre.
- Breach any of the Centre Rules (including allowing another person to use their membership card).
- In addition to Rule 20, members agree that the Centre may, at its discretion, without giving any reason, suspend and/or terminate a member’s membership of the Centre and ban them from the Centre.
- A member who has their membership terminated will not normally be entitled to a refund of their membership fee but the Centre Manager may at their discretion grant a refund of the unused portion of the membership fee.
- Centre members will be issued with membership cards and will only be permitted entry if they present their own valid membership card. No member may allow any other person to use their membership card.
- These Rules are in addition to the provisions in the Massey University.
