Thematic Analysis Workshop

In this course students will explore reflexive thematic analysis (TA). The course will help them to develop their understanding of how to do qualitative data analysis in their research.

Overview

Within this short course of 6 hours, students will be exploring reflexive thematic analysis (TA) over a full day. The sessions are a mix of short lectures, practical activity, and group work, and while focused broadly, are primarily aimed at supporting those developing their understanding of how to do qualitative data analysis in their research.

Who this course is for

The course aims to support those who are planning to undertake qualitative research, those who have already collected qualitative data and are unsure how to analyse them, or those who supervise or support students using qualitative data.

Learning outcomes

  • Have an understanding of the principles and phases that enable the performance of a high-quality reflexive thematic analysis.
  • Have gained practical experience in reflexive thematic analysis, including how to interpret and conceptualise data within the method.
  • Be able to select and apply reflexive thematic analysis to design of postgraduate level project.
