The Humanities and Social Sciences Master’s Step-Up Scholarship supports students entering postgraduate study for the first time, assisting in removing barriers to upskill.
What you'll be studying
This is a postgraduate scholarship. You will be enrolling for the first time in one of the following qualifications:
- Master of Applied Linguistics
- Master of Arts
- Master of Clinical Psychology
- Master of Communication
- Master of Counselling
- Master of Creative Writing
- Master of Education and Developmental Psychology
- Master of Education
- Master of Emergency Management
- Master of International Development
- Master of International Security
- Master of Māori Studies
- Master of Māori Visual Arts
- Master of Resource and Environmental Planning
- Master of Specialist Teaching
- Master of Speech and Language Therapy
- Master of Sustainable Development Goals
Eligibility criteria
You will be:
- a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident
- enrolling for the first time in a master’s degree in semester one (February), 2026
- intending to enrol, full time or part time, in a master’s degree within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Massey University (eligible qualifications are listed under the Conditions)
Application checklist
Include the following with your application:
- a statement outlining your reasons for wanting to enrol in your chosen master's degree and your interest in your subject area (max 250 words)

When selecting our recipients we will consider your demonstrated interest in your chosen subject area and reason for enrolling in a master’s degree.
