Maniototo Lions Agricultural Scholarship

Selection Criteria/Eligibility

• Applicants must be enrolled in in any of the following fields:

- Veterinary Science Degree

- Animal Science Degrees

- Agriculture and Horticulture Degrees

• The successful applicant will demonstrate some academic merit, a real commitment to their current studies and be strongly motivated and passionate about working in the sheep and beef industry or a similar field in the agriculture sector in the future.
• Must be a New Zealand citizen and from within the ‘wider’ Maniototo area. (This area is approximately defined as within a 50 Kilometre circle around Ranfurly and would include the Hyde, Oturehua and Pigroot areas).

Application/Interview Process

• Application forms will be available at ICL Chartered Accountant’s office in Ranfurly who will also have them available by email at lynette@iclca.co.nz.
• Applications need to be submitted by Friday 22/11/2024
• The selection committee will consist of representatives from the Maniototo Lions winter crop committee, the current club president and if needed a representative from Massey University.
• An applicant may be requested to attend an interview with the above committee.
• Successful scholarship recipient (s) will be announced in early December.
• All applicants will be acknowledged.

Scholarship Conditions

• Recipient(s) will receive a payment from the Maniototo Lions Club which will be paid to Massey University at the start of the first semester to be applied to either their tuition fees or accommodation account.
• The scholarship is tenable for one year.
• The scholarship is tenable with any other scholarship provided they are disclosed to the selection panel before any interview takes place.
• The scholarship may be awarded to more than one applicant.
