This scholarship is provided under the will of Mr Sydney Campbell, who owned the Wairarapa sheep and beef farm Riverside Farm. Mr Campbell died in 1977.

What you'll be studying

This is an undergraduate scholarship. You will be studying one of the following areas:

  • agriculture and food (including agriscience, agribusiness, food technology, horticulture and agritech)
  • animal science and welfare
  • environmental science as it relates to biodiversity of farming

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must:

  • be intending to enrol full time in the first year of an appropriate undergraduate degree at Massey University in the year following the award of the scholarship; and
  • normally be domiciled in Wairarapa south of Woodville, and between the coast and the Tararua/Remutaka Ranges; and
  • have attended secondary school in this district, or are normally domiciled in the district but attended secondary school outside of the district (e.g., boarding school)

Preference is given to applicants who are taking courses in agriculture or horticulture and show an inclination to return and live in Wairarapa upon completing their course.

Selection considerations

When selecting our recipient we will consider your NCEA Level 2 results (or equivalent). We will also consider your inclination to return and live in the Wairarapa upon completing your degree.
