This scholarship is provided under the will of Mr Sydney Campbell, who owned the Wairarapa sheep and beef farm Riverside Farm.

Who we're looking for

We're looking for someone who is passionate about the Wairarapa region and wants to take their knowledge of agriculture and horticulture back to the region.

What you'll be studying

This is a postgraduate scholarship. You will be studying a master's degree or PhD in one of the following areas:

• agriculture and food (including agriscience, agribusiness, food technology, horticulture and agritech)
• veterinary science
• animal science and welfare
• environmental science as it relates to biodiversity of farming.

Eligibility criteria

You must:

  • be undertaking full time study, or applying to undertake full time study, in an appropriate postgraduate Master’s degree of at least 180 credits or PhD, at Massey University at the time of application
  • typically be domiciled in Wairarapa south of Woodville, and between the coast and the Tararua/Remutaka Ranges
  • have attended secondary school in this district, or are typically domiciled in the district but attended secondary school outside of the district (e.g., boarding school).

Preference is given to applicants who are taking courses in agriculture or horticulture and show an inclination to return and live in Wairarapa upon completing their course.

When choosing our recipient, we will consider your academic achievements and other scholarships or bursaries you hold. We will also consider your inclination to return and live in the Wairarapa upon completing your degree/diploma.
