Dorothy Edith Wynyard was a teacher, a nurse, a farmer and a mother. More than this, she had a passion and a curiosity to learn. This is perhaps what drove her to begin studying for a Bachelor of Arts at the age of 59 in 1972. She studied extramurally while managing the family farm near Raglan and graduated aged 79 in 1993. At that time, she was Massey’s oldest graduate.

This scholarship has been established in her memory by her daughter, Annella Wynyard, to support and encourage those that wish to study agriculture but might otherwise struggle to afford the cost of study.
