Whenua Haumanu

Whenua Haumanu is a partnership between Massey University and the Ministry for Primary Industries through the Sustainable Food and Fibre Futures fund. It's the most comprehensive programme on regenerative agriculture in New Zealand.

Plant science research

Our plant scientists research and collaborate on projects in plant breeding, genetics, preserving plant biodiversity and conservation of New Zealand's native plants.

The School of Agriculture and Environment maintains two databases – New Zealand weeds and pasture plants in New Zealand. These are designed both for members of the public and for students looking for information. These databases provide information on how to identify each plant, details about the plant, and some suggestions on how to manage it.
