The universities are the only two in the world that lead oiled wildlife response teams and are at the forefront of oiled wildlife research and response, advancing knowledge of best practices in the management and care of oiled wildlife. The universities are world leaders in higher education, with highly experienced oil response practitioners and trainers.
The Oiled Wildlife Response Training (OWRT) will be a comprehensive training program designed with online and in-person courses. The courses are being developed so that students will receive the international best practice standards in response information based on the latest research and response techniques.
OWRT has multiple training paths based on what roles oiled wildlife responders would fill in a response - from entry level personnel to team leader positions and advanced response planners and managers. With the international perspective from the two Universities, these courses will mean individuals will be trained so that they can take up oiled wildlife response positions almost anywhere in the world.
