Student support and facilities

Starting out – student recruitment

The Student Recruitment team are the people you can talk to if you’re still working out what you want to study, or if you know what you want to study, and want to take the next steps.

We have Pasifika student advisers ready to answer your questions, and help you along the pathway to lifelong learning.

Pasifika orientation

At the start of each semester, alongside the usual orientation activities, we host Pasifika orientation events on each campus. These are a great way to help you settle into your new environment, meet other Pasifika students and staff, and find out who’s who, and the range of services available on and off campus.

Pasifika Learning Advisors

There are Pasifika Learning Advisors based in the National Centre for Teaching and Learning (NCTL) on each campus. The centres provide a range of learning development services and resources to enhance student success. Their staff are committed to supporting your study and they encourage students to take advantage of the excellent services they offer on each campus and virtually for distance learners.

MANATOA – Pasifika Mentoring and Leadership Programme

The MANATOA programme is available to all our first year students (internal and distance) studying at Massey University. Mentors are second and final year student who provide pastoral and academic study skills support, and who will guide you along your journey.

    Academic Support

When you study at Massey University you will have access to a number of academic support services, resources and people who can help you to enhance your academic skills including:

    • Academic writing skills support
    • Assignment pre-reading
    • Study skills
    • Online Writing and Learning Link (OWLL) website
    • Workshops
    • Pasifika Stream

    Library Library

The library is your best resource for studying, and if you need help with your research, you can make an appointment to talk with our Māori and Pasifika Librarian.

    Pasifika research collection

In the library at the Auckland Campus we’re developing a Pasifika research collection of books. It is housed on Level 3, and books can be identified by the frangipani label on the spine of the material. The collection holds books, print journals, and audio visual material with Pasifika content.
