Inside The Trading Room for Massey Business School students on the Ōtehā Auckland campus.
TradingView is a financial analysis and social trading platform. It allows users to track and engage with global markets, with customisable functions and community engagement features. The Massey Business School, at Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa Massey University, will begin an educational partnership with TradingView in 2026.
The partnership gives a selection of Massey Business School students and staff subscription access to TradingView. Professor Claire Matthews, who is of Head of School for Accountancy, Economics and Finance, says this will enable students to apply their learning in real market scenarios.
“TradingView enables an applied learning environment for our finance courses, contributing to the real-world relevance of our students’ learning. Students will be able to practice portfolio construction and test their investment hypotheses, while using virtual funds in real-time market conditions without financial risk.”
The partnership will assist students in building greater familiarity with the information sources that become crucial following graduation.
“Integrating this new tool in our curriculum means we are giving our students hands-on experience with the technology used by market professionals.”
Subscription access to TradingView builds on existing resources provided to students within Massey Business School, including the Trading Room on the Ōtehā Auckland campus, which houses Bloomberg financial terminals, a live stock ticker, and news screens.
The addition of this digital platform will allow students to connect to the markets from a distance and integrate live markets into their everyday learning. The goal, as Professor Matthews highlights, is give students greater opportunity to employ theories learnt through their studies.
“Students will be able to actively build and engage their portfolios, test algorithms and track market data – developing career-ready skills in real time.”
The first set of subscription licenses have been allocated, so a selected number of students will be able to access the service in 2026. Students interested in TradingView should contact their professors.
