The College is launching 50 new $1000 scholarships for first-year students, with applications opening today. These scholarships will be awarded across the five creative arts programmes offered at Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa Massey University’s Wellington campus: Mātauranga Toi Māori, Design, Fine Arts, Screen Arts, and Commercial Music. Applications close 15 December 2025.
Applicants are asked to create a one-minute video answering the following questions: Why they want to study at Toi Rauwhārangi College of Creative Arts; Which programme they plan to enrol in; And what inspires their creativity. Videos should be posted on social media between 1–15 December, tagging @toi_rauwharangi @allaccesscoca, or @mataurangatoimaori.
A selection panel including artists and lecturers from the College of Creative Arts will evaluate the videos for their creativity, clarity and passion, and successful applicants will be notified by the end of December 2025.
Pro Vice-Chancellor of Toi Rauwhārangi College of Creative Arts, Professor Margaret Maile, says the novel approach allows applicants to use the channels they work with every day, to showcase and explore their creativity.
“We’ve launched the Creative Kickstarter Scholarship to support bold, creative thinkers who might otherwise be held back by financial barriers. This is an opportunity to fuel emerging talent and invite students to begin their journey in an environment that thrives on innovation and expression. I can’t wait to see the videos!”
