Smart thermal sensors with digital interfaces outperform conventional thermal sensors where low cost, low power usage, and low system complexity are important. Mr Fisk developed a smart thermal sensor on a modern CMOS integrated circuit manufacturing process that is significantly smaller than previous designs, and presented a novel circuit design to compensate for manufacturing-induced variations in sensor output. Mr Fisk''sresearch findings guide the construction of future smart thermal sensors with uncalibrated accuracy levels exceeding those of any currently available design.
