Murid rodents of the genus Rattus and Mus have become among the worst vertebrate invasive species worldwide. The practice of rodent control is extensive and new methodologies are sought after. My aim was to explore several aspects in the behavioural ecology of the Norway rat and the house mouse, with the overarching aim of informing and improving rodent control. Throughout my experiments, I have developed novel method to capture Norway rats, and opened new and promising avenues for future improvement in mouse and rat control.
