Thesis Title
Short Circuit Co-Evolution by the Perfect Parasites: Antifreeze Glycoproeins in Antarctic Fish Leeches (Hirudinea, Piscicolidae)

Antifreeze glycoproteins (AFGPs) enable Antarctic fishes to survive in freezing waters. Their associated leech parasites (Piscicolidae) had either to evolve mechanisms to acquire the life–saving proteins from their host, to adapt their own genome, or to develop a combined tactic unique to their life strategy.
