Green Campus Day 2021
At Massey University our inspiration for Green Campuses – He kura taiao, he kura tangata – is the whakataukī ‘Ki te kaha tiaki te tangata i te taiao ka matomato te tipu ka houkura, ā, ka whaiora anō te tangata’. This can be translated to mean ‘If the environment is looked after with passion, is treasured and respected, then people will also flourish and in turn benefit from that effort made to look after the environment’.
Green Campus Day – 21st September 2021 – is an opportunity for us to showcase what Massey University is doing through some of its building projects, research, and what we teach. In 2022 the School for the Built Environment will be launching the new Master of Construction (Sustainable Built Environment)
Our Climate Action Plan 2021-2030 paints the big picture about what we are doing to achieve Net Zero Carbon by 2030.

Right across the university we are working to embed sustainability in our everyday culture and practices.
28% of Massey’s GHG emissions are related to energy. A few small changes on your part can help us reduce that number. For example:
- Turn off your computer monitor
- Shut your PC down rather than set it to sleep
- Print less
- Switch off the lights and other equipment when not in use
- Use the stairs rather than the lift
