Tuesday 16th October 2018
The Working Dog Centre is pleased to announce our third biennial Research Colloquium on Tuesday 16 October at Massey University. The Colloquium is an opportunity to disseminate new knowledge to our supporters /sponsors and generate discussion on contemporary working dog health issues. Our program this year will include speakers who are experts in their fields and our Guest Speaker is Dr Cindy Otto from the University of Pennsylvania Working Dog Center who will be presenting topics in Canine Olfaction.
Dr. Otto is an associate professor at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine, and is board-certified in both veterinary emergency and critical care and veterinary sports medicine. She has been involved in disaster medicine as a member of the Pennsylvania Urban Search and Rescue Task Force and Veterinary Medical Assistance Team. Her work monitoring the health and behaviour of Urban Search and Rescue dogs used at the World Trade Center following the 9/11 disaster inspired her to establish the Penn Vet Working Dog Center. Established in 2007, the Penn Vet WDC serves as a national research and development center for detection dogs.
