Qualifications are made up of courses. Some universities call these papers. Each course is numbered using six digits.
Level
The fourth number of the course code shows the level of the course. For example, in course 219206, the fourth number is a 2, so it is a 200-level course (usually studied in the second year of full-time study).
Credits
Each course is worth a number of credits. You combine courses (credits) to meet the total number of credits needed for your qualification.

A study of basic engineering principles as they apply to design and operation of agricultural buildings and structures, farm water, refrigeration and heating, fencing and subdivision, waste management; the utilisation of modern technologies in agriculture; and the Resource Management Act and how that affects agricultural businesses.
Must attain at least 40% in final exam to pass course.

- 1 Explain the mechanics of fluid flow in pipes, including head loss in pipes and fittings and describe the properties and characteristics of hydrology used in agriculture.
- 2 Evaluate energy use in a farming context.
- 3 Describe subdivision techniques and associated legislation and accurately calculate farm metrics including area, length, scale, volume, weight and density.
- 4 Describe waste water characterisation and treatment systems used in agriculture.
- 5 Describe the operating principles of engines used in farming.
- 6 Accurately perform calculations necessary to erect, build, and finance the construction of a range of farm buildings.
