Entry requirements

Admission to this programme is open to students who have completed one of the following:

  • A Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Philosophy or close equivalent;
  • A Bachelor of Arts degree with a minor in Philosophy, followed by a Graduate Certificate in Arts endorsed in Philosophy;
  • A Bachelor of Arts degree followed by a Graduate Diploma of Arts in Philosophy.

Students must have achieved a B grade average over the 200 and 300-level courses in Philosophy.

Bachelor of Arts (Honours) (Philosophy) structure

You complete and pass courses to the value of 120 credits at 700-level from the BA(Hons) Philosophy schedule, as shown below, with the research report usually taken as the final course. This qualification will be awarded with a class of Honours.

Note: not all courses are available in each semester.


All requirements must be completed within one year for full-time study or within three years for part-time study.


A) Compulsory course:
134.710 Philosophical Research

B) One of the following (60 credit or 30 credit):
134.798 Research Report (30 credits)
134.799 Research Report (60 credits)

C) Subject courses: 60 credits (if course 134.798 is taken) or 30 credits (if course 134.799 is taken) selected from courses listed on the programme schedule.
