Studio units

The Cube’s studio apartments are modern and spacious, with open plan living and separate bathroom with shower.

Each room includes:

• double bed
• TV table
• two wardrobes
• desks and chairs
• pinboard
• dining table and two chairs
• two-seater sofa
• stove top
• oven
• mini fridge
• sink.

All studios have lockable doors, privacy blinds, opening windows, and heating.

Apartments

Each room includes:

• double bed with mattress protector
• desk and chair
• wardrobe
• pin board.

Apartment kitchens have:

• a stove top
• oven
• fridge/freezer
• sink.

Common areas within the apartments have:

• a dining table and chairs
• couches
• coffee table
• TV table
• heater
• separate shower and toilet.

All apartments, including each bedroom, have secure lockable main doors and opening windows fitted with security stays. Bedrooms are approximately eight square metres in size.

Items you should bring

Our handbook has a handy list of items to pack and bring with you.

Along with clothing and personal items, you should also bring:

• Bed linen, including pillows, comforter/duvet (you can order a bedding pack when you accept your offer of place)
• Towels
• Coat hangers
• Toiletries and toiletry bag
• Laundry basket
• Laundry powder/liquid
• Cleaning products
• An electric fan for the summer
• Toilet brush
• Cutlery
• Crockery (cups, plates, bowls)
• Cooking utensils
• Kettle
• Toaster
• Chopping board
• Saucepans and frying pans

If you are living in a shared apartment you may prefer to wait until you arrive so you could purchase the kitchen items together and share the cost.

The Cube is self-catered accommodation; however you can purchase a Tussock meal package available on Massey Campus.

Meals are served at Tussock Café, located in the heart of the Massey campus or they can be taken away. The café offers a diverse range of food options, simply order with everybody else but pay by presenting your hospitality meal package ID card.

Your meal package provides you with a $60 credit for each week of the term from orientation week onwards. If you don't use the full credit each week it will be accrued during study weeks only and expires on the last exam day of the year/semester.

The Cube has a shared common room with TV and couches, located on the ground floor. A shared laundry is located on the ground floor at a cost of $3 per wash and $3 per dry.

Parking, including for motorbikes and scooters, is not available at The Cube. However, reserved parking is available across the road at our Kāinga Rua Hall. You can indicate whether you would like a car park when accepting your offer. Please note, we prioritise nursing students/students who require a car park for their studies.

The Cube has a bicycle storage shed. A key costs $60 for 42 weeks. Bikes are not allowed inside the hall or to be left outside the hall.

The Cube's central Wellington location is close to many major transport links, including the city’s bus network, trains and ferries.

The Cube allows alcohol in apartments only. However, spirits and hard liquors, and alcohol in large quantities such as beer kegs are not allowed.

Room rates include:

• internet/wifi
• utilities power and water (residents who use more than a reasonable amount of electricity will be charged extra)
• gym membership at the Massey Recreation Centre.

Payment options

You can pre-pay by semester or full year. Domestic students are also able to pay on a weekly basis by direct debit.

Deposit

After you have applied for accommodation and your application has been successful, you will need to pay a deposit by the offer expiry date stated in your letter of offer to secure your place.

The deposit is $762 for a full year or $722 for one semester.

To secure a refund of the bond, mattress protector and activity fee, cancellations must be received by :

• 1 December 2023 for returning halls residents
• 22 January 2024 for new hall residents.

The processing fee is non-refundable.

Your accommodation contract term must reflect your study programme. If your programme of study is a full year, you must apply for the full year accommodation option.
