Fitness, recreation and sport while studying online

Studying online doesn’t mean you’re on your own – get more out of your university experience with these opportunities.

Drop into our gyms when you're nearby

If you’re visiting, travelling through or living close by one of our campuses in Auckland, Palmerston North or Wellington, you can drop in and use the gym casually. If you travel a lot, know that when you join any campus gym, you’ll get access to all 3.

Our short-term gym memberships align with block courses

Some courses include contact workshops where you’ll need to come to campus once or twice during the semester for in-person learning. If that’s the case, drop by the gym or recreation centre while you’re here! Our gyms offer a range of short-term options:

  • casual visits
  • concession passes
  • one-week memberships
  • one-month memberships

Find a student sports club

Join a student club to play friendly and fun local sport – you don’t have to be studying online. Check your students' association Te Tira Ahu Pae clubs page for a club near you.

Health centres

Do you have a sporting injury or just need a check up? Our student health and counselling centres offer a wide range of medical services from friendly staff. Clinics are open Monday to Friday and usually cost less than other health centres.

You can choose to enrol with a campus health centre as your main healthcare provider, or just register as a casual patient – whatever works best for you. If you're studying by distance, you can register with the campus health centre closest to you.
