At Massey University in Wellington we have three social sport leagues — volleyball, netball and futsal. Social sport is open to tertiary students from all over Wellington.

Social sport is now being played over the Summer Semester at Massey University, Wellington.

Games are played at Wellington High School’s indoor courts, which is just a short walk from Massey University Gym. Social sport is a great way to make friends, be active and have fun.

  • Registrations Close – Monday 10th January 5pm
  • Social Sport Starts - Wednesday 12th January
  • Final Games Wednesday 2nd February

Games are every half hour from 6.00pm to 8.00pm on Wednesday Nights

Covid-19 Protection Framework

We are required to follow Wellington High School’s COVID Protection Framework. In order to play Social Sport this semester you must:

  • Wear a face mask when entering and exiting the building
  • Show proof of a valid vaccination card
  • Scan in for every visit
  • Stay home if you are sick

Social sport league rules

  • Each game lasts 30 minutes.
  • All teams must be ready to play at least 5 minutes before their game is due to start.
  • Games will start on time, even if teams don't have all their players or they arrive late. This is to avoid making other games start late.

Volleyball rules

  • 6-aside, at least two women and two men on the court at all times.

Netball rules

  • 6-aside, at least two women and two men on the court at all times.

Futsal rules

  • 5-aside, at least one woman at all times.

Rip Rugby rules

  • 5-aside, at least one woman at all times.
