Plant Diversity

This course examines all facets of plant diversity, including the processes that generate, maintain, and shape its composition and distribution. Students explore lineage diversification and evolution through population genetics and phylogenetic approaches, and investigate the genetic and environmental drivers of morphological and life history variation within and among species. Major plant lineages are compared to highlight their adaptive and evolutionary significance, and students develop an understanding of plant diversity across multiple contexts, including natural, ecological, and applied systems.
