Child Clinical Neuropsychology

This course is designed to enable students to understand and use theories, research and skills involved in child neuropsychology. An emphasis will be placed on functioning in interdisciplinary teams.

  • 1 Critically reflect on normal development during childhood (before and after birth), with attention to context and culture.
  • 2 Critically reflect on theories and research relating to the etiology of neuropsychological disorders and other brain insults affecting children and young people.
  • 3 Apply advanced knowledge of functional neuroanatomy and neuropathology to clinical work with children and young people.
  • 4 Select and interpret neuropsychological assessment procedures and tests relating to children and young people with attention to the limits of evidence and predictions.
  • 5 Develop assessment-guided neuropsychological interventions and/or management strategies for children, young people, whānau, and support people.
