  • 2 Critique the epidemiology and pathogenesis of the human diseases caused by bacterial and fungal pathogens.
  • 3 Compare and contrast the modes of action of antimicrobial agents as well as microbial mechanisms of resistance and optimal methods for detection of susceptibility to those agents.
  • 4 Analyse the benefits and potential risks to health, associated with the human microbiome.
  • 5 Appraise and safely execute laboratory methods commonly used to isolate and/or identify bacterial and fungal pathogens in clinical specimens.
  • 6 Apply the principles of ethical practice and cultural integrity within the laboratory.
