Massey farms - Ngā Pāmu

Working with industry and research partners, Massey farms run research and trials in areas of significance to science, the industry and the consumer.

Visit a farm, ask a question or request teaching and research services.

Our research takes place on dedicated research farms. We operate 6 separate farm units, including:

  • 2 dairy units
  • 2 sheep and beef farms
  • a small deer breeding and finishing unit
  • a mixed enterprise sheep, beef and dairy support farm.

In total just over 2,000 hectares is farmed. Most farmland is near our Manawatū campus in Palmerston North. A sheep and beef property is located nearby in the Manawatū district and another property in the Wairarapa District.

In total the farms winter approximately:

  • 850 dairy cows
  • 8,500 sheep
  • 800 beef cattle
  • 200 deer.
