Mr Jayamaha studied the validity of a class of organisational performance improvement models known as Business Excellence Models, used in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. All three models were found to represent the same theory of performance improvement. Evidence also supported the view that Business Excellence Models are based on sound principles. In essence, Mr Jayamaha''sthesis showed that the business results of an organisation are directly affected by process management and human resource focus. These business results are also indirectly affected by leadership, strategic planning, customer focus and information analysis, through the mediating effects of process management and human resource focus.Mr Jayamaha developed heuristics to analyse the measurement validity of new scales such as those used in Business Excellence Models. Through his heuristics, Mr Jayamaha identified several aspects that need greater attention in future revisions of Business Excellence Models, in order to enhance the precision of measurements.
