Te Rau Tauawhi – Māori Student Centre
Ko tā Te Rau Tauawhi he manaaki i te tauira kia puta te ihu, kia angitu.
Te Rau Tauawhi gives manaakitanga, support and advice to Māori students at Massey. We are part of the Ākonga Māori Student Success Support Collective Strategy to help our ākonga Māori realise their academic and all round potential.
Te Rau Tauawhi was founded on tikanga Māori principles of whānau, manaakitanga, whanaungatanga and mātauranga. We offer a wide range of ako (learning) services to help you get the most out of your university experience, including:
- general learning support and advice
- help with course planning
- mentoring
- writing workshops
- postgraduate workshops on writing literature reviews and research proposals.
You’ll also find study and course information on our Stream page. Stream is Massey’s online learning community. All students get access to it when they enrol.

Te Whare Taupua on our Ōtehā campus is home to Te Rau Tauawhi student support centre, where Māori students are welcome to come and kōrero, have a kai, study or seek advice and support. It's a place for our Ākonga Māori to utilise for learning, Hauora and whakawhanaungatanga.

Te Rau Puawai – Māori mental health workforce development programme
Ka tukuna e Te Rau Puawai mā te tautoko hoki o Health Workforce New Zealand he karahipi hei tautoko i ngā tauira e whai ana i ngā tohu e hāngai ana ki te hauora hinengaro Māori.
Te Rau Puawai, in partnership with Health Workforce New Zealand, provides bursaries and learning support to Massey students working towards a qualification in the field of Māori mental health.
