Te Rau Karamu Marae

Te Rau Karamu Marae positions kaupapa, tikanga and mātauranga Māori in the absolute heart of our campus here in Wellington. The marae is predominately used for teaching and learning with Kaupapa Māori to the fore. It can also host guests overnight. The exterior landscaping has been specifically designed with native species as part of the outdoor learning space.

Te Kāhui Toi and Athfield Architects, in association with Massey University, have won three awards for Te Rau Karamu Marae at the Te Kāhui Whaihanga New Zealand Institute of Architects (NZIA) Wellington Awards.

Te Kāhui Toi, under the leadership of Professor Ngātai Taepa and Associate Professor Kura Puke of Toi Rauwhārangi College of Creative Arts, has been awarded a Purple Pin for the design of Te Rau Karamu Marae on the university's Pukeahu Campus (Wellington)

Te Whare Taupua

Te Whare Taupua on our Ōtehā campus, is home to Te Rau Tauawhi student support centre, where Māori students are welcome to come and kōrero, have a kai, study or seek advice and support. It is first and foremost a place for our Ākonga Māori to utilise for learning, Hauora and whakawhanaungatanga.
Te Rau Tauawhi was founded on tikanga Māori principles of whānau, manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, and mātauranga. They offer a wide range of services and support to help you get the most out of your university experience, whether you're studying on campus or online as a distance student.
