Collection development policy

Our collection development policy document describes the collecting responsibilities and priorities of the Massey University Library system.

Library resources are provided to support the university’s current and anticipated teaching, learning, and research needs. Some important things to note about our collection policies are:

  • where available, we prefer digital resources
  • we make selection decisions in keeping with the relevant subject collection development policies
  • we may remove lower-use material from open shelves and store it elsewhere
  • we may dispose of or cancel access to material that is no longer of value to the university or relevant to teaching or research
  • we have a commitment to developing and preserving significant special collections.
