Massey hosts Sustainability Development Goals summit

In September 2025, Massey hosted the Aotearoa National Sustainable Development Goals Summit at its Manawatū campus. With the theme “Getting it right! Sustainable production and consumption in Aotearoa”, the summit brought together changemakers from across the country for 2 days of keynote talks, panels, workshops and discussions. Topics included climate justice, te ao Māori approaches, social equity and systems change.

The summit built on momentum from a 2024 lead-in event, titled “How to achieve the SDGs? Let’s ask Nature”, which brought together government agencies, NGOs, universities and community groups to explore nature-based and collaborative approaches to sustainability.

Both events reflect Massey’s ongoing leadership in this space, following its hosting of the Australasian Campuses Towards Sustainability (ACTS) conference in 2022. That conference, The Future of Sustainability, brought together sustainability champions from campus communities across Australasia and the Pacific to share and inspire transformative action toward a fair, just and equitable future for all.
