Kaye Thorn is a senior lecturer within the School of Management, based at Albany. She is currently responsible for teaching a postgraduate research report class and manages the internship programme and the professional practice paper for the College of Business. She is also the course co-ordinator for all postgraduate research reports, and she regularly supervises postgraduate research. Kaye’s main field of interest is in the area of global careers and mobility with publications in business, careers and psychology journals.
Kaye's recent research has been in the area of self-initiated mobility, focusing on the reasons why some people choose to live and work abroad. This work has been extended into the role mobility plays in career choice. Kaye's work has been recognised internationally, being awarded the Outstanding Paper Award for the journal Career Development International and being invited to join a symposium of international experts in this field in Canada in 2010.
