Research Centre for Hauora and Health

A university research centre covering all aspects of hauora and health research, with a focus on:

  • epidemiology
  • non-communicable diseases
  • mātauranga and kaupapa Māori
  • Māori and Pacific health
  • environmental and occupational health.

We also facilitate a postgraduate teaching programme.

SHORE and Whariki Research Centre

SHORE and Whāriki Research Centre

A university research centre with two multidisciplinary groups working to improve health and wellbeing nationally and globally. Our policy and community research includes:

  • kaitiakitanga
  • health services
  • housing
  • urban design for active transport
  • alcohol and other drugs.

Sleep/Wake Research Centre

The centre advances and applies scientific knowledge about sleep, waking and how these are regulated by the circadian body clock. As well as academic research and teaching, we offer consultancy services and expert advice to government, industries and unions.

This laboratory offers a physiological and biomechanical analysis for many sports and occupational activities. Laboratory staff have experience with a wide range of sports, athletes and occupations.
