The Veterinary Teaching Hospital’s referral service gives vets around New Zealand access to specialist procedures and second opinions.

Complex cases are referred to our Massey Vets Team because of our staff expertise, facilities and specialised equipment. Our whole team are passionate about providing the best possible care to you and your pet.

Continuity of care service

Practices who wish to transfer a patient for overnight monitoring should submit the request for continuity of patient care using our webform.

Request for continuity of care service

All cases will have a consultation with the veterinarian on duty prior to hospital admission. We will also discuss costs with the client during this consultation.

Payment

We require a 50 percent deposit for all estimates before any veterinary work is carried out. Further deposits may be required if the patient needs additional procedures or care which changes the original estimate.

Clients must pay in full when the patient is discharged. You can pay by:

  • QCard
  • Vet Care finance
  • internet/direct debit banking
  • Eftpos
  • all major credit cards – surcharge of 2.5 percent applies.

Afterhours Referral

We do not except after-hours referral unless the case needs emergency surgery or 24/7 care. Please submit your referral request and call the after-hours to discuss the case.

Our equine veterinarians offer elective and emergency surgery for horses, specialist treatments, advanced imaging services and the investigation and treatment of a range of conditions.

  • colic surgery
  • airway surgery, including laser surgery.

Investigation and treatment of:

  • lameness
  • poor performance
  • weight loss
  • respiratory disease
  • colic.

Advanced imaging including:

  • digital radiography
  • ultrasonography
