Requirements

The History major has no specific course requirements; therefore you are free to structure your major around the areas of your interests.

There are many 100-level courses to select from to start off your History major.

You may decide that your History major will be area specific and concentrate your studies in a particular area, such as New Zealand and the Pacific or Europe. Or you might decide that you are interested in a particular era for example, medieval, early modern or a particular century. Or develop your major around particular themes: politics, sport, war or Maori history. Then again, you might decide to study a combination of area, era and theme to give you a well-rounded major.

Major requirements

A major in History consists of 135 credits (nine courses).

Minor requirements

A minor consists of 75 credits in History including 15 credits at 300-level; 30 credits at 200 and/or 300-level, and 30 credits at any level from the History schedule.

To find out how to plan your study and/or see what courses are necessary to complete your programme, please check the regulations.
