Accommodation office contactsThe Courts are among a community of similar halls on the Massey campus. Rotary and Kairanga Courts offer fully furnished, single rooms within a 4-bedroom unit with fellow students. Each of these courts contains 16 units. You will be housed in similar age groups.
These courts offer the flexibility of self-catered independent living, within a community environment. Get creative with your meals in your unit's shared kitchen.
Enjoy a Massey gym membership and wifi internet access in all rooms and common areas.
Rotary and Kairanga Courts are close to all student facilities, including lecture theatres, the library, the dining hall and the Colombo Road bus stop.

Here's what you can expect in each room:
- King single bed – rest comfortably on a spacious king single bed, complete with a mattress and mattress protector for a good night's sleep.
- Study area – study from the comfort of your own room. Your room includes a designated study desk, chair and desk light.
- Shelf, pinboard and wardrobe with a mirror – you will have plenty of storage space for your clothes, books and personal items.
- Heater, carpet and curtains – for a cosy and comfortable living environment year-round.
- Privacy and security – enjoy peace of mind with a lockable door, ensuring privacy and security for each resident.
At Massey, we promote autonomy and independence in maintaining a tidy and organised living space. You are responsible for cleaning your entire living space, including kitchen, bathrooms and bedroom.

By bringing these essential items, you'll be well-prepared for your stay in Rotary and Kairanga Courts – settling in comfortably from day one.
- Bedding and towels – ensure a comfortable sleep by bringing your own bedding, including sheets, blankets, and pillows. Don't forget to pack towels for personal use.
- Clothing hangers – keep your wardrobe organised with clothing hangers for hanging clothes in your wardrobe.
- Toiletries and toiletries bag – bring along your toiletries, such as toothpaste, shampoo and soap, and store them in a toiletries bag for easy access.
- Laundry basket – stay organized with a laundry basket for collecting dirty clothes and transporting them to the laundry facilities.
- Laundry powder – stock up on laundry powder to keep your clothes clean and fresh throughout your stay.
- Cleaning products – keep your living space tidy by bringing cleaning products such as surface cleaner and wipes.
- 3M hooks or white tac – if you wish to hang anything on your wall (no tape, nails or screws allowed).

- Electric fan – while each room has an opening window, you may also wish to bring an electric fan to cool your room during the summer months.
- Small fridge – consider bringing a small fridge with a capacity of around 47L to store snacks and beverages. Remember to place it on a waterproof mat to prevent damage to the floor.

Kairanga and Rotary Courts have shared gender-neutral bathrooms with showers, toilets, and sinks. There is 1 bathroom per 4 students. All toilets and showers are within self-contained private cubicles with lockable doors.

Kairanga and Rotary Courts are self-catered. Students can store food and prepare their meals in the unit's shared kitchen.
There are a range of supermarkets in Palmerston North for students to purchase food from.

Each unit has its own kitchen which comes equipped with a fridge/freezer, stove, and oven, sink and microwave. The dining area has a table and chairs.
The central common room for all residents has sofas, a TV and powder room.

At Massey Halls Manawatū, Kānuka and Karaka are shared community spaces for all our residents designed to support different needs and energy levels. Together, they provide inclusive spaces for residents to connect, recharge and thrive.
- Kānuka – a vibrant, high-energy hub with games, entertainment and space for social gatherings.
- Karaka – a calm, low-sensory space for study, rest and quiet connection.

The pricing for Kairanga and Rotary Courts is as follows.

Payment options
- Full pre-payment – Pay your entire accommodation fees in one payment, either by semester or for the full year.
- Semester payments – Pay your accommodation fees in two instalments, one prior to the start of each semester.
- Weekly payments (domestic students only) – Domestic students may choose to pay via direct debit, with an advance payment followed by weekly instalments.

When your application for accommodation is successful, you will receive an official offer. To secure your place in the halls, you must:
- Pay the required deposit
- Complete and return the Residential Agreement.
Both must be completed by the offer expiry date stated in your offer letter.
Please note: this deposit is in addition to your Accommodation Fees.

Payment process
Payment methods and deadlines will be outlined in your offer letter.
Once your deposit has been received and processed, you will receive:
- a confirmation of place
- your Accommodation Fees invoice
- further instructions about move-in dates and procedures.

Withdrawal and refund eligibility
To secure a refund on the bond, mattress protector and activity fee, you must cancel before the specified deadline. The processing fee is non-refundable and will not be included in the refund amount.
Withdrawal deadline
- Returning halls residents – cancellations must be received by 1 December 2025.
- New hall residents – cancellations must be received by 23 January 2026.
