All rooms are fully furnished single rooms, in a range of sizes. Fergusson Hall is located in a quiet residential area on large private grounds within 10 minutes walking distance to the Massey campus.

Rooms and furniture
All bedrooms in Fergusson Hall are fully-furnished private single rooms, in a range of sizes. Each bedroom has a window that can be opened, and a secure lockable door.
Each room includes:
- a divan bed with drawers underneath (single or king single) and mattress
- wardrobe
- drawers
- desk, lamp and chair
- shelves, mirror and rubbish bin
- carpet and curtains
- heater
- bar fridge
Items you should bring
Along with clothing and personal items, you should also bring:
- toiletries and toiletry bag
- your own bedding and towel (or you can order a pack containing these items prior to arrival)
- coat hangers
- laundry detergent
- 3M hooks/tape or white tac, if you wish to hang anything on your wall (no tape, nails, screws or blu tac allowed).
- plates and cutlery
- pots and pans
- cooking utensils such as wooden spoons, spatulas.
Room sizes
Fergusson Hall offers five different sized room options: Standard one, Standard two, Standard three, Premium and Super premium.
Bathrooms
Bathrooms at Fergusson Hall are shared gender neutral. The student to bathroom ratio is 5 people per toilet/shower.
Self-catering
Fergusson Hall is self-catered. Students can store food in their fridges in their rooms and prepare their meals in the communal kitchens, which also have lockable storage for food, and communal freezer space.
There are a range of supermarkets in Palmerston North, for students to purchase food from. The hall offers weekly van trips to the supermarket.
Communal spaces and shared facilities
Keiller House has several common areas that include two study and computer rooms, a large games room, music room, two lounges with TV, dining spaces, and two kitchens.
The common kitchens include gas hobs, ovens, toasters, microwaves, electric jugs and lockable cupboards and drawers for residents to store their food and equipment.
Fergusson Hall’s four cottages share a separate building with a large lounge, dining room, kitchen and study room.
Fergusson Hall has extensive grounds with a sports field, sand volleyball court, basketball hoop and BBQ area.
There is a shared laundry with six washing machines, which are free to use - students supply their own detergent. Dryers are coin-operated ($2 per hour). Outdoor and covered washing lines are available.
Wifi
Free unlimited internet is available hall wide.
Alcohol
Fergusson Hall limits the amount of alcohol a resident is permitted to have at the Hall. Students are allowed to keep small quantities of alcohol in their bedrooms of less than 10% alcohol content.
You can drink in designated social areas provided the level of noise does not cause any disturbance to anyone else around you and you respect our social areas.
Alcohol must be consumed in its original container, i.e. not in water bottles or glasses (other than wine in wine glasses). No one under the age of 18 years is permitted to consume alcohol at Fergusson Hall.

Car parking and bike storage
Fergusson Hall has 50 parking spaces on-site in a well-lit area, and a separate visitors’ car park. Residents need to register for a parking space which is $90 per semester.

Bike storage is available free in a lockable shed – keys are available from the office. Bikes are not permitted inside the house or cottages.

Room rates include:
- laundry facilities
- electricity (although residents who use more than a reasonable amount of electricity will be charged extra)
- Unlimited wifi.
All students can pay by semester or full year. Domestic students are also able to pay on a weekly basis.
Payment options
There are several payment options for rent payments. Including full year, per semester, fortnightly, weekly, and $130 weekly payments (with an initial lump sum payment).
To secure your accommodation, you will need to pay a deposit by the date stated in your letter of offer.
